Camoranesi reveals Bielsa conversation

MAURO GERMAN CAMORANESI revealed that he had spoken to Argentinian boss Marcelo Bielsa but the matter of him being called up to the national squad never came up.

The Juventus ace, who has chosen to represent Italy instead, said the conversation was brief and Bielsa did not bring up the issue.

"I spoke with Bielsa for about two minutes once but we didn't speak about playing for the Argentinian national team," said Camoranesi.

"It was a quick conversation and that is the only thing I am going to say on the matter."

The attacking midfielder revealed he had no hesitation in choosing the Azzurri and made up his mind long before he made his decision public.

"It wasn't a hard decision in a football sense because having the chance to play for Italy is something very important because they are one of the best in the world.

"I made my mind up long ago but I didn't want to say anything before because I didn't want to be pressured, especially by the press, so I could play calmly for Juventus.

"The thing that worried me most was the social aspect because here in Italy they are very rough with foreigners, there is also a lot of discrimination."

The Juve ace also revealed the reasons behind his blank expression when he lined-up for Giovanni Trapattoni's side against Portugal in a recent friendly during the national anthem.

"It was logical because I had been bothered about that all week leading up to the game but I'm not going to sing it because I don't know it.

"I don't know the Argentinian (anthem) so I definitely don't know the Italian."
