Bellamy accused of racial abuse

NEWCASTLE UNITED firebrand Craig Bellamy could be in hot water again, after being accused of verbal and racial abuse.

Police authorities are investigating the claims which followed an incident at the Millennium Plaza in Cardiff on Sunday evening.

A complaint was made against the speedy striker by a man in the wake of the alleged clash in the Welsh capital.

The Magpies star is with the international squad ahead of their Euro 2004 qualifier with Azerbaijan, after scoring the final goal in the 5-1 demolition of Blackburn Rovers at St James' Park on Saturday.

Wales boss Mark Hughes confirmed there was an incident involving his star forward, but dismissed suggestions that he would leave the player out of his side.

"He's not been sent home," affirmed the former Manchester United star.

"He didn't train on Monday but I hope he will be fit for the weekend."

The Welsh FA are conducting their own investigation into the matter.
