Ambrose still thinking of Town
Ambrose travelled back to Tyneside on Monday, after undergoing a medical on Saturday.
The youngster is understandably undecided hesitant about leaving his southern roots, but a move to the Premiership giants looks set to be too much of a temptation to turn down.
"I'm going back up to Newcastle with my agent and will take it from there," said Ambrose.
"It's all a bit scary.
"I don't want to go to Newcastle and play in the reserves, I'd rather be helping Ipswich try and get back into the Premiership and if the loan situation can be sorted out then that would be good.
"But I'm confused by everything at the moment and the deal has got to be right."
Ambrose revealed how the move came about last Friday.
"Late in the afternoon the boss Joe Royle came to see me and said that a fee had been agreed with Newcastle and that I could talk to them," he continued.
"I went up with my agent. We had a look around and I spoke to the manager Sir Bobby Robson and his chief scout Charlie Woods.
"I was very impressed with the whole set-up as you would expect. I had a medical and now we'll go back and take it from there."
