Shakers set to sign Solly
The 19-year-old has been told by the Molineux club that he is surplus to requirements, despite being highly-rated by manager Dave Jones.
Preece decided to offer Solly a contract at Gigg Lane after the teenage custodian impressed during a six-week trial with the club's reserves and will likely join them again in the summer.
"He will probably be coming for next season, rather than the rest of this one but we may still get him in on a non-contract basis for the last few games," Preece told The Shakers' official website.
"I've seen him in training and in a couple of games since he's been here and I've been impressed."
Meanwhile, co-chairman John Smith has warned stay-away supporters of the Division Three side to start turning out or face losing the club for good.
The Shakers joint-chief is upset that attendances at Gigg Lane have not been at their best this season and the club have seen a gradual decline in supporters at home matches since Christmas.
Smith issued an ultimatum to supporters that despite surviving administration last season, The Shakers are still paying a £300,000 debt and could be taken to the wall come the start of next season.
"These gates are abysmal and are going down all the time. Unless new generations of supporters start coming, I really fear for this club," said Smith.
"It's a miracle we are still playing now. If we keep getting attendances like that, we won't be around for the start of next season.
"That's not scare-mongering, that's a fact."
