Osgood's attack on Jeffers

CHELSEA legend Peter Osgood has launched an astonishing attack on Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers.

The former England striker labelled the forward a "disgrace", and blasted his "diving" antics whilst performing for The Gunners.

It could be argued that Jeffers was not involved in any diving incidents during Arsenal's 3-1 win at Chelsea in the FA Cup replay on Tuesday, although he did become embroiled in a nasty head-to-head confrontation with Emmanuel Petit.

"Arsenal are a good side but the only thing that takes away from it is that Jeffers," Osgood told Sky Sports News.

"I tell you what, if I was still a player, or if I was Ron 'Chopper' Harris, I would love to take him out.

"I would love to see him really get hurt because he does dive so much.

"He's probably the biggest cheat I've seen in my life, he really is.

"He's just a disgrace to Arsenal Football Club, he really is.

"He does dive and I think it's a shame because they are a very good side."

Meanwhile, Jeffers, recently called into Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad for the forth-coming European Championship qualifiers has hit back at Osgood's comments.

Jeffers said:  "I have been made aware of Peter Osgood's outrageous comments.

"As an ex-pro he has a responsibility to the game as a whole, after all he is still earning a living out of it.  Perhaps he's trying too hard to justify his existence as a controversial pundit.

"I take exception to his allegation of cheating.  To go further and state he wants a professional to really hurt another is quite frankly beyond belief."
