Owen backs Heskey
Heskey set up Owen's opener in the 2-0 win over Liechtenstein on Saturday but that has not spared him from receiving yet more criticism.
The former Leicester man picked up a knee injury in Vaduz but is expected to train with Sven Goran Eriksson's squad on Monday.
Many have now called for Everton starlet Wayne Rooney to be given a start against the Turks, something Eriksson is reluctant to do, and Owen has given his backing to Heskey.
Owen has always said he relishes playing up front with Heskey, praising his work rate and says that he always helps out any team he plays in.
"I thought he did really well for the first goal," said Owen.
"He is a constant threat. He works so hard, tracking back all the time.
"If I was having to do that, I don't think I would have the legs to make the forward runs.
"His work helps the whole team, and not only me."
Eriksson, meanwhile, will also welcome Sol Campbell back to the squad for training on Monday.
The Arsenal stopper was given extra time to recover from an Achilles problem and looks likely to be available for Wednesday and could slot back in to partner Rio Ferdinand in the heart of the defence.
