Watts pushes Brush aside

SHREWSBURY TOWN'S new signing Steve Watts has hit out at Leyton Orient boss Paul Brush by admitting his relief to have left the Brisbane Road club last week.

The 26-year-old made a transfer deadline day move to the Shropshire outfit and in doing so, fired a parting shot at the O's boss by blaming him for the failings at the East London side.

"The club is one of the highest payers in the division and I know that they just need a good manager to come in to take them up," Watts told the Epping Forest Guardian.

"You need someone in charge who has got the respect of the players and can motivate them, because at the moment the mood is the deadest I have ever seen it at the club.

"When I went on loan at Lincoln this season, you could see that their manager Keith Alexander knew how to get the best out of his players.

"No disrespect to them but their squad should probably be in a league below Orient's, but they are up there doing well this season.

"The way Brush talks to people is not the way you would expect to be spoken to and without a shadow of doubt, the players have lost respect for him.

"While it might sound like sour grapes on my part, I really don't think the lads want to play for him.

"Those kind of man-management skills are a big part of football, but Paul doesn't even know how to approach someone if he is going to drop them and I don't think he will be involved in the game much longer."
