Cooper hoping for new deal
COLIN COOPER is keen to seal a new deal with Middlesbrough, joking that he would like to play to an older age than friend Stuart Pearce.
The 36-year-old is hoping to convince Boro boss Steve McClaren to hand him a new contract - and he has a target to aim at.
"I hope to play until I'm 40," says the experienced defender.
"I want a new contract but I don't know what the club is planning.
"I'm talking to them over the next couple of days.
"I'm a good pal of Stuart Pearce and he played until he was nearly 40. I want to beat that if I can.
"I'm a better player mentally than 10 years ago and think I can go for three or four seasons yet."
