Rams sign young aces

DERBY COUNTY have signed academy youngsters Chris Palmer and Jimmy Turner to one-year professional deals at Pride Park.

The Derby-born pair were delighted to have signed professional deals with their hometown club, with the two 19-year-olds having impressed in The Rams' reserves.

Palmer is a versatile player - who can play either as a full back or winger on the left side - while Turner can play either on the right or left of the back-line.

The club's academy director Terry Westley was pleased to see both Palmer and Turner earn pro deals with the East Midlands outfit.

"This is another step in the right direction for both players," Westley told The Rams' official website.

"We are very proud of them and hope they have a long and successful career here.

"Chris has a very good left foot and real quality on the ball. He is not frightened to get hold of the ball and make things happen.

"Jimmy has battled away in the reserves and Under-19s. He has slowly improved and we think there is even more to come from him."
