Bobic warning for 96ers

GERMAN international Fredi Bobic warned his Hannover team-mates that relegation is looming, as the 96ers are only three points clear of the drop zone following their 1-0 defeat at neighbouring Wolfsburg.

Supported by almost 10,000 fans in the 30,000-capacity Volkswagen Arena, the visitors dictated the game for the entire half until the match was turned upside down by Diego Klimowicz's spectacular bicycle-kick on 51 minutes.

"Like so many times before we had been the superior side and created plenty of chances, but after failing to score we were punished by Wolfsburg and now the race against relegation is very tough for us," declared Bobic.

"We never should have got in the trouble we are in now, but maybe we don't want it any other way. We might need this big-match pressure and against Kaiserslautern next week we face a decisive game."

While the hosts did little to double their lead, Hannover pressed forward for the equaliser, but were denied by bad finishing and the excellent Wolfsburg reserve keeper Sead Ramovic, who replaced the injured Claus Reitmaier.

As Hannover dropped to 13th, only three points clear of the bottom three, Wolfsburg remain in eighth.
