Roberto Carlos appeal rejected
The Brazil full back made physical contact with referee Alon Yefet during the friendly defeat to Portugal last month, and was immediately red-carded by the Israeli official.
A final decision on the length of the suspension will be made on May 9.
"Having viewed the video recording of the match and, having read the referee's report, the chairman of the Fifa Appeal Committee is of the opinion that there is sufficient evidence to support the provisional suspension, and that the regulations have been applied correctly," confirmed a Fifa statement.
"The player's appeal has therefore been rejected."
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson complained that Roberto Carlos should not have been available for the Champions League as the suspension could have been extended to club matches.
