Delgado receives Ecuador call

SOUTHAMPTON striker Agustin Delgado has been called up to join his international team-mates for their forthcoming friendly with Spain, despite being unfit for the game.

Ecuador are keen to re-unite the hit-man with his compatriots to boost his spirits as he continues his recuperation from injury.

"Delgado has been called only for being together with his team-mates as he can't play because of his injury," stated Ecuadorian Football Federation president Luis Chiriboga.

The Ecuadorian squad will gather in Quito next Thursday before heading off for the clash in Spain on April 30th.

Delgado's fellow British-based star Ulises de la Cruz of Aston Villa is also included in the party.

Jose Francisco Cevallos and Daniel Viteri (goalkeepers); Iván Hurtado, Augusto Poroso, Giovanny Espinoza, Marlon Ayovi, Ulises de la Cruz and Friczon George (defenders); Edison Mendez, Edwin Tenorio, Alex Aguinaga, Franklin Salas, Alfonso Obregon and Cleber Chala (midfielders); Jaime Kaviedes, Angel Fernandez, Agustin Delgado, Carlos Tenorio and Nicolas Asencio (strikers).
