Fergie: Raul loss is Real United filip
The Scotsman believes Raul to be Real's best player despite their galaxy of superstars.
However, the United supremo feels that the Spanish international has already left his mark on the tie courtesy of a brace in the first-leg, and identified the loss of Scholes as crucial as his troops go in search of the goals to turn around a 3-1 first leg deficit.
"I think Raul has done his damage and they need to make sure they don't lose two goals, but he's still a massive loss to them as he's their best player and he does make a difference," stated Ferguson.
"But Scholes is an important player for Manchester United, particularly as we are chasing goals."
Ferguson remained adamant though that his charges could pull off a great comeback, pointing to their past record in the competition.
"The interest in the game is there for everyone to see," he went on.
"It is a very big challenge but the tie is not over. We've had so many big challenges in the past, but I hope this is one we can manoeuvre."
United skipper echoed his manager's sentiments pronouncing the spirit in The Red Devil's camp the best he had known it in recent years.
"If everyone is ready for the biggest test ever faced against the European champions then the time is now, the time is set for this team hopefully," said the 31-year-old.
"It's a massive challenge but the spirit in the camp is excellent, as good as I've known it, and the lads are ready and eager for the game to start.
"Last year, we came unstuck in the semi-final when we thought it was there for us.
"It's all very well talking the talk, but you have to walk the walk and we'll see tomorrow night."
