Arsenal set to sign striker
As previously reported on planetfootball.com, Banik Ostrava striker Papadopulos has emerged as a target for The Gunners, and he underwent a training session with the Premiership champions on Wednesday.
Agent Pavel Zika has revealed that Wenger wants to buy his client as soon as possible, and he is hopeful of also rushing through a deal for Czech Republic number one Cech (pictured).
"Arsenal now have more options but the truth is that Wenger or someone else from Arsenal is coming every week to France to watch Petr," insisted Zika.
"Wenger and other people can't understand the fact that Petr Cech is the best (keeper in the world) now, when he is just 20.
"It's interesting. They are not sure with Petr Cech but, with Papadopulos, they want to sign a contract immediately.
"Michal attended a training session with Arsenal on Wednesday, and Wenger was very pleased.
"I have to say that Michal showed his best."
Wenger himself is quoted in the Czech daily Idnes, revealing: "He (Papadopulos) will be a star within a year."
Banik Ostrava have despatched officials, including former tennis professional Daniel Vacek, who is owner of the Czech outfit, to London in order to negotiate the sale of Papadopulos.
A move for the talented forward is looking very much on the cards, but Wenger has other goalkeeping options and may not hand former Sparta Prague man Cech the pressure of being asked to replace David Seaman.
"My contact in Arsenal told me they would like to wait for at least a year in the case of Petr Cech," added Zika.
"But, in my opinion, the best moment for a transfer is right now, during the summer transfer window."
