Totti suffers back injury

ROMA captain Francesco Totti has been ordered to rest after injuring his back in the weekend victory over Milan.

Totti picked up the problem after a collision with Milan defender Alessandro Nesta and was substituted before the hour mark at Stadio Olimpico.

The Italian international underwent scans on Monday which discovered Totti had suffered a muscular lesion and a haematoma on his back.

The influential playmaker has been struggling to walk with the injury and has been told to have a break for a few days.

Totti is expected to be missing from Roma's trip to Reggina this weekend although the club's coaching and medical staff are hopeful that will be the only game he sits out.
