Henry backs Barthez
Barthez linked up with Les Bleus ahead of Wednesday's friendly against Egypt after being dropped for the Red Devils' Premiership victory at Tottenham on Sunday.
The eccentric shot-stopper has repeatedly been tipped for the Old Trafford exit door in recent months, and his absence at the weekend has sparked fresh speculation regarding his situation with the Premiership table-toppers.
Arsenal striker Henry, though, cannot fathom why Barthez has been the subject of such intense criticism as he feels his old Monaco team-mate has been in sound form.
Henry also admitted Barthez is respected among his international colleagues and believes United would be in a worse position without the contribution of the 31-year-old.
"In the national team, we all have confidence in Fabien but it's a bit weird," said Henry.
"I don't see why (he's being criticised). He's not having a bad moment. So many times, I see some games for United and, without him, they could have lost some points.
"He has been outstanding. We know here what a great goalkeeper he is."
