Movilla adds weight to Gil debate

ATLETICO MADRID midfielder Jose Maria Movilla has spoken of his shock at Jesus Gil's outburst following the club's centenary day defeat.

The 28-year-old believes that as club president, Gil went one step too far when he claimed that some of the players did not deserve to live, after losing 1-0 to Osasuna.

"You cannot be indifferent when the president is the one saying these things," Movilla explained.

"The squad was hurt by his comments because he did not say it to us directly and the indignation among the players was obvious.

"Many fans may have felt the same as the president, but he is the president of the club and should not have gone to the media to say these things."

The feud at Atletico has rumbled on with retorts going backwards and forwards between the players, the coach and Gil.

But the club announced that manager Luis Aragones would be staying on next term, despite Gil claiming that he was unprofessional.
