County to offload eight

STOCKPORT COUNTY have started their cost-cutting measures for next term by informing eight youngsters their services will not be retained.

An octet of young professionals will not have their contracts renewed when they expire at the campaign's conclusion with manager Carlton Palmer shedding some dead wood from his squad.

Andy Thomas, Peter Wild and Glynn Hancock are the only three of the eight to have forced their way into County's first-team plans.

Thomas, 20, has made a total of 12 appearances for The Hatters but like his young cohorts, has barely been involved this term.

Midfielder Wild, 20, has five games under his belt while former reserve team captain Hancock suffered a serious knee injury early in the campaign.

Also being released are Anthony Kielty, Haydn Eames, Ryan Elderton, Gareth Walsh and Michael Ogden.
