Atalanta keeper set for debut

ATALANTA goalkeeper Alex Calderoni insists he is not frightened ahead of his Serie A debut this weekend.

Calderoni is poised to deputise for Massimo Taibi (pictured) against Internazionale due to Atalanta's first-choice being suspended after his involvement in a brawl against Torino last weekend.

The 26-year-old joined Atalanta from Monza in 2001 but has yet to figure for the club in the Italian top-flight.

He will be plunged in at the deep end on Saturday but Calderoni is not afraid of facing the fearsome Inter attack.

"I'm not frightened," affirmed Calderoni. "I have just a little tension but I'm charged, too.

"It's the first appearance in Serie A and there are big motivations."

With Christian Vieri injured for Inter, Calderoni has pinpointed Alvaro Recoba as the man most likely to spoil his Serie A bow.

He added: "They have the best Italian attack even if there won't be Christian Vieri.

"Who is the player I fear most? Alvaro Recoba. On free-kicks you have to be lucky. You can try looking at the ball and you hope.

"He's a fantastic player. I met him last summer in a friendly match which Inter won 3-2. I played the second half and who scored? Recoba."
