Ole delighted to have contributed

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has expressed his delight at his major role in Manchester United's success, admitting that he could not have dreamed of the success he would enjoy when he arrived at the club in 1996.

The baby-faced assassin is understandably loved by the Manchester United fans for his uncomplaining attitude and inspired finishing.

The Norwegian has found himself increasingly pushed out onto the wings this season, but has been delighted to have got so many starts.

"I have kept myself free of injuries and that is very important," Solskjaer told VG.

"I have been allowed to play in many vital games and I feel I have contributed.

"But every season is special at this club.

"I never dreamed that, when Molde's owners Kjell Inge Rokke and Bjorn Rune Gjelsten brought me over by plane in 1996, that seven years later I would be sat here with all these medals.

"I never thought I would get these amazing experiences."

Solskjaer is not really the partying type, and confessed his celebration after Arsenal handed them the title with defeat to Leeds was muted.

"I went and put my son Noah to bed and it only became a quiet celebration," added Solskjaer.

"Three of us were in the living room after he had fallen asleep.

"We didn't even have a wine of glass. It was very quiet and peaceful."
