Pennant flags up potential

ARSENAL sensation Jermaine Pennant is confident his treble showing in his side's 6-1 slaughter of Southampton will ensure he obtains more regular first team football next season.

The England Under-21 talent has been crying out for a chance to impress Arsene Wenger at first team level, and was handed a starting slot in the Highbury dress rehearsal for the FA Cup final.

After claiming a first half hat-trick, the winger was in buoyant mood, even though he is due to miss the Millennium Stadium showdown with The Saints.

"I hope that gives the boss an idea," proclaimed the former Watford loanee.

"He plays me in my first game and, obviously, he can't overlook the fact that I've got a hat-trick.

"I've only got one game left (at Sunderland on Sunday), but obviously there's next season.

"I am cup-tied because I played for Watford but I will be there (at the FA Cup final), cheering them on."
