Leeds United 3 Aston Villa 1
A lacklustre last day game saw a more relaxed Elland Road crowd, after the club had ensured their Premiership survival the week before.
It took just eight minutes for Ian Harte to open the scoring for the home side, when he curled home a textbook free-kick after in-form Mark Viduka had been brought down.
Reid then saw his men sit back and invite pressure on to themselves, and Paul Robinson had already denied Joey Gudjonsson once before the on-loan star lashed a 30-yard shot past him five minutes before half time to level the score.
Nick Barmby has been reduced to something of a bit-part player at times this season, but the substitute nipped in to head home a Dominic Matteo flick, just ten minutes after his introduction.
With the game deep in injury time Leeds wrapped up the scoring when Viduka - who has flourished under Reid - rounded Villan goalkeeper Stefan Postma to slot home clinically.
Leeds ensured they finished in 15th position with this victory, a place ahead of their visitors.
It seems that both Reid and counterpart Graham Taylor will consign disappointing seasons for their respective sides behind them, and start preparing for the 2003/04 season.
