NAC striker hits back

NAC BREDA misfit Bart van den Eede wants to stay at the club despite being criticised by the president.

Interim president Willem van der Hoeven is disillusioned with the misfiring striker and has made him available for transfer.

The 25-year-old arrived from Den Bosch last summer but has bagged just two goals in 23 appearances, although ten have been as a substitute.

NAC originally fought off fierce competition to sign the Belgian but are unhappy with their investment, particularly as van den Eede is proving a burden on the club's budget.

But van den Eede has hit back at the criticism and insists he has no intention of quitting NAC as he feels a niggling hamstring injury has blighted his time at the club.

"This shows little respect," said van den Eede in response to van der Hoeven's comments.

"They must not forget at NAC that there were seven, eight clubs in line for me last season. This is just so easy.

"Of course, I have brought too little, I agree with that. But sometimes you're just out of luck.

"The past four years, I never had any injuries. This season everything seems to have come together. I have been bothered by my hamstrings for months now.

"I like it here in Breda. And, I've signed for four years, don't forget that. Only one is over. I still have three years left to prove that I can be useful to NAC."
