Seaman hints at Arsenal exit
Seaman lifted the FA Cup on Saturday after his dramatic save from Brett Ormerod in the final minutes prevented Southampton from levelling.
The goalkeeper himself admitted that he was considering his future, but would wait until Wenger made a final decision on his role at the club.
"[My Future] depends on what my position will be," said the 39-year-old.
"I've had a chat with the manager and he's said he will decide at the end of the month what role I am going to have.
"It is in his hands. You'll have to ask the gaffer about it. He's the one who has to make his mind up.
"It is a decision I will have to make in the summer, because there are other clubs."
Close friend and coach Bob Wilson believes that the former England number one would be loathe to settle for a reserve role.
"It's just so difficult for David right now," said Wilson.
"It's a real dilemma because he doesn't want to leave ArsenalǪbut he does want to carry on playing."
Wenger had been glowing in his praise of Seaman after the victory, but again stated that he was not going to guarantee Seaman a starting role.
"I'm very proud of him. He has shown again the calm, the authority and the responsibility on the pitch and that's what you want from a super professional," said Wenger.
"It's about showing how strong you are on the pitch and he's done that again today and he has always done that since I was at Arsenal.
"He's still the best goalkeeper in England but I have to accept he will be 40 soon and at that level it's difficult to say he can play 60 games a season.
"I don't know yet what will happen next season but I want him around and at worst as cover."
