Tommy in the Black

TOMMY BLACK has handed Crystal Palace an end-of-season fillip by signing a new contract.

The midfielder has inked a fresh four-year deal which will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2007.

His contract had been due to expire in the summer but Palace were determined to hang onto the services of the 23-year-old.

Eagles chairman Simon Jordan offered Black the new terms back in March and the former Arsenal man has now responded by putting pen-to-paper.

Black joined Palace from The Gunners in the summer of 2000 and has made over 100 appearances for the ambitious First Division outfit.
