Daum confirms Fener accord
The former Bayer Leverkusen coach is currently working as Austria Vienna coach, but confirmed he would be leaving in the summer to take up the post in Turkey.
Daum had been linked with a return to his native Germany to take over the vacant Schalke job, as well as positions in both England and Spain, but has now plumped for Fener.
"I will go to Fenerbahce, we have a deal," stated Daum in the Turkish media.
"I do not want to go Germany and stay in Austria. I prefer Turkey."
Daum is already rumoured to have drawn up a transfer short list for the Turkish outfit to pursue, with the five names topping his list.
Real Sociedad marksman Darko Kovacevic tops the list after another fruitful campaign in La Liga.
Real Madrid midfielder Geremi is another option, which could spell bad news for Middlesbrough, who are striving to make a permanent move for the Cameroon international following his loan spell at The Riverside.
Dutchmen Overmars, Zenden and Stam are also wanted, according to sources in Turkey.
Flying Barcelona winger Overmars would not come cheaply, while Stam looks set to remain in Serie A when he leaves Lazio in the close season.
As for Zenden, the Chelsea man has hinted he would like more playing time under Claudio Ranieri, and perhaps is the most viable target.
The glittering quintet represent the ambitions of Daum, but, first of all, his appointment needs to be confirmed in Istanbul, as there are still whispers that Luis Fernandez remains in the frame for the job.
