Quaresma delighted with United link

SPORTING LISBON starlet Ricardo Quaresma has admitted his pride at being linked with a move to Premiership champions Manchester United.

The 19-year-old is rumoured to be high on Sir Alex Ferguson's wish-list this summer after catching the eye for both his club and the Portuguese Under-21 team this term.

However, the youngster insists he will continue to focus fully on Sporting until any interest in him becomes confirmed.

"It's clear that I am satisfied to know that the coach of Manchester United admires me," stated Quaresma.

"Any player would be satisfied to be well liked by one of the greatest clubs in the world.

"Manchester United are a universally known club that any player would like to represent.

"At this moment though, I am thinking only of Sporting. There are only two games to go to the end of the (Portuguese) championship and, afterwards, we will see.

"If they want me to leave₻I will leave."

Quaresma conceded that he was unsure if he would be able to immediately adapt to a different league, but said he had always held the ambition to play in one of Europe's elite competitions.

"I have adapted myself well to Portuguese soccer, but to the others I do not know," he admitted. "I have still to play there.

"I will say soon which is the country I dream to play in, but the Italian, Spanish and English championships are all fabulous."
