Sutton says sorry

CELTIC striker Chris Sutton has issued an apology for the comments he made in the immediate aftermath of The Bhoys` agonising title loss on Sunday.

The Parkhead titans secured a comfortable win at Kilmarnock, but lost the title on goals scored to bitter rivals Rangers after Alex McLeish`s charges recorded a 6-1 win over Dunfermline.

Sutton angered many by saying he felt The Pars 'laid down' and allowed Rangers to win easily at Ibrox.

The former Blackburn ace is facing a possible Scottish Football Association disrepute charge, while The Pars are considering taking legal action.

Sutton has moved to calm the situation by issuing a statement through his agent John Viola, saying he did not mean to cause any offence.

Viola said: "Chris regrets any offence that his remarks may have caused after Sunday's match. They were said in the heat of the moment after an extraordinary week."

Sutton`s comments will be looked at by the SFA`s General Purposes Committee, but he will have to wait until well into the summer to learn his fate.
