Jenkins agrees Swans deal

LEE JENKINS has become the first Swansea City player to pledge his future to the club after accepting a new contract.

The full back was offered a fresh deal a fortnight ago by Swans chief Brian Flynn and has agreed to the terms on the table.

Jenkins has spent his entire career at Vetch Field and was a pivotal figure in the team which survived a brush with relegation from the Football League this term

The long-serving defender was delighted to concur on the contract and is now merely waiting to put pen-to-paper.

"Brian and me spoke briefly a couple of weeks ago when he offered me a deal," Jenkins told the club's official website.

"I'm very pleased with what's been offered and I'm happy to sign, it's honestly just a case of waiting for them to draw up the contract and I'll sign it straight away."

Meanwhile, Swansea are plotting a swoop for goalkeeper Kristian Rogers, who has been released by Wrexham.

Rogers was back-up to Andy Dibble at The Racecourse Ground and Swans director of football Flynn feels the 22-year-old may prove a useful addition.

Flynn said: "Kristian could be just what we are looking for.

"He is the right age, 22, has been a professional for four years and has the right experience with something like 50 league games."
