Freddie keen on Spurs move

FREDERIC KANOUTE`S agent has confirmed that the West Ham striker would relish a move across London to play for Tottenham.

Spurs are being strongly linked with a bid for the forward, who is unlikely to want to play Division One football following West Ham`s relegation, and his agent Willie McKay has paved the way for a move by admitting Kanoute would fancy plying his trade at White Hart Lane.

"Freddie is very keen to go to Tottenham because he feels it would be a great move for him," said McKay.

He added: "At the moment it`s a question of price and it`s down to the clubs to agree but I think it`ll be in the region of £4 million."

The Hammers admitted at their Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday that they would have to sell 'two or three players' following their relegation, and they could well be ready to do business with Spurs for Kanoute.

White Hart Lane chief Glenn Hoddle is seeking a partner for Robbie Keane, following the departure of Teddy Sheringham, and Kanoute`s profile would certainly fit with what the former England coach is looking for. Brighton's Bobby Zamora is another of Hoddle's options.

In other news, West Ham have moved to clarify Joe Cole`s situation in light of reported interest from Chelsea, saying there has been no contact at all from Stamford Bridge or any other club.

The young midfielder`s situation was plunged into doubt on Thursday when reports claimed The Blues had tabled a £5 million bid and that it was being discussed by The Hammers` board at the club's EGM.

However, this has been denied, with managing director Paul Aldridge saying: "There has been no bid. In fact, there has been no contact with Chelsea at all."
