Jose Mari prepared for Milan return

JOSE MARI has confirmed he will be returning to Milan this summer and not staying at Atletico Madrid next term.

The Spanish international forward has been on loan at his former club this campaign, making 25 appearances and scoring five goals.

However, despite his impressive showing the 24-year-old is now set to return to Italy, although he admits he is unsure of his future role at the San Siro.

"I knew that I would probably have to leave to return to Milan," said the hit-man.

"It did not take me by surprise and it will not change my life.

"A lot of things can change but not me staying at Atletico. I don't know what Milan have planned for me though.

"I have spoken to the people in Italy, and I'll return because I have a contract, but teams start moving at this time of year and I'll have to wait and see what happens."

However, the player insisted he had no regrets about his season back at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

"In recent years there have been good moments and bad ones and I think of the positive bits.

"I don't regret anything. I see this season as something very positive.

"I have played a lot of games and I have been very happy in my personal life. I myself decided to come to Atletico as there are very few teams I would have left Milan for."
