Palmer plans move for Greer

STOCKPORT COUNTY are reportedly plotting a permanent swoop for Blackburn Rovers defender Gordon Greer.

The Scottish stopper enjoyed a loan spell at Edgeley Park during the final month of last season after signing on deadline day.

Greer made five appearances for The Hatters and scored on his debut in a 4-1 victory at Wycombe Wanderers.

During his time with Carlton Palmer's men, Greer was never on the losing side and impressed with his displays at the back.

He is well down the pecking order at Ewood Park, having made a solitary appearance in two years with Rovers following his arrival from Clyde.

County chief Palmer is rumoured to have offered the 22-year-old a three-year contract in an attempt to lure the defender to the Second Division on a permanent basis.
