Gould denies Taylor talk

CHELTENHAM TOWN boss Bobby Gould has denied newspaper reports that he is on the verge of signing out-of-contract striker Bob Taylor.

The veteran front man was released from West Bromwich Albion's ranks at the end of last season, as The Baggies prepare for life back in Nationwide Division One.

He was linked with a switch to Walsall but Saddlers boss Colin Lee ruled out a move for the 36-year-old.

Gould told the club's official website: "Anyone who says Bob Taylor is about to sign for us is telling porky pies.

"I spoke to Bob a couple of weeks ago but have had no contact with him since then.

"I have spoken to a number of players over the past couple of weeks and it is a case of scouring the market to see what is available.

"I don't know who keeps circulating these rumours about Bob joining us but it's a non-event at the moment."
