Borriello targets Milan breakthrough

STRIKER Marco Borriello is hoping to make the breakthrough to the Milan first-team next season after returning from his loan spell at Empoli.

The 20-year-old hit-man endured a hit-and-miss spell at Empoli, managing just one goal in six league outings.

Borriello admits he was unhappy to miss out on Milan's Champions League and Coppa Italia success last term, but is determined to make an impact at the Guiseppe Meazza next season.

"I'm ready for everything to stay at Milan. Leaving them meant I haven't been European champion and I haven't won the Coppa Italia. But I think next year I'll have more consideration from coach Carlo Ancelotti," said the Italian Under-21 international.

"The Empoli experience, if it hasn't been sparkling, helped me to grow. This year's difficulties helped me."
