King rejected Engonga move

SWINDON TOWN manager Andy King has revealed he turned down the chance to sign veteran midfielder Vicente Engonga.

The 37-year-old former Real Mallorca ace, who spent the end of last season with Coventry, is keen to continue his career his England.

However, despite the veteran's wish to remain in the country, King has ruled out The Robins offering him a deal.

"It's one of those strange situations that you get in football from time to time," said King.

"I remember watching him play four or five years ago for Real Mallorca when I was chief scout for Peter Reid at Sunderland.

"These memories came flooding back when I had a call from an agent about Engonga.

"But I think Alan Reeves is about the most experienced I am prepared to have here in terms of age."
