Savio agent confirms Atletico talks

THE agent of Real Madrid winger Savio has admitted that he has held talks with city rivals Atletico Madrid over a possible transfer.

The Brazilian winger will be out of contract at Santiago Bernabeu in June and will not be receiving a new offer from 'Los Meringues'.

He spent last season on loan at Le Championnat outfit Bordeaux, and the French club have an option to make the switch permanent.

However, Savio's agent Joao Henrique Areias has hinted that his client would prefer to continue his career in Spain.

"We spoke with Toni Munoz (Atletico director of sport) a few days ago and we made him a proposal," stated Areias.

"Toni told us that he (Savio) is an interesting player. It's now them who have to reply to our offer.

"He (Savio) would love to stay here as his family are settled in Madrid and he has a son born there.

"The most important thing is that Savio wants to continue his career in Europe, and he has various offers.

"Going to Atletico does not now depend on us, but rather on the intentions and plans that Atletico have."

Savio, 28, joined Real Madrid in the summer of 1998 in a £5 million move from Sao Paulo but has fallen out of favour at Real under the stewardship of Vicente del Bosque.
