Gladbach fighting for Forssell

BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH have admitted they are trying to turn striker Mikael Forssell`s loan move from Chelsea into a permanent arrangement.

The Finnish striker impressed during his loan stint in Die Bundesliga, netting seven goals, and said recently that he would not want to return to Stamford Bridge if he had to sit on the bench.

Doubts surround the future of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Chelsea, so Forssell could be given the chance to shine.

However, Gladbach are ready to step in if Chelsea fail to assure the Finn that he has a role to play for The Blues.

"We are in continuous contact with Chelsea, Mikael and his agent," said Gladbach spokesman Markus Aretz.

"We have said to Mikael that he only has to wave his little finger and we will be there for him."

Chelsea are in financial trouble but are unlikely to let the striker go for less than £4 million - which could scupper Gladbach`s hopes.

However, a number of other Bundesliga teams have been impressed by Forssell and Borussia Dortmund may step in if Chelsea consent to part with the 22-year-old.
