Boloni explains Rennes decision
Despite several high profile coaches at Stade dele Route-de Lorient, the club have struggled at the wrong end of Le Championnat table in recent years but the Romanian coach says he is determined to change things around.
"I chose Rennes to make a good job and bring this club the stability they have missed at any level for several seasons," the former Sporting Lisbon boss told L'Equipe.
"To be honest, I also chose Rennes to come back to France, close to my wife and my daughter, after three years spent in Romania and Portugal.
"There are at Rennes quality players, good conditions of work, fans and good young players.
"My priority is to give a new state of mind, probably more aggressive, a new ambition, and find again necessary calm and confidence.
"I just spent one year in Romania and two in Lisbon. I felt I grew richer, I improved at the highest level and believe me I lived there, a continuous pressure.
"So I have no worry with the size of the challenge at Rennes.
"Also I will fight to keep the best players at the club like goalkeeper Petr Cech."
