Dabizas injured in car crash
A late goal from Angelos Charisteas gave the Greeks all three points and moved them above Spain to the top of Group Six, as the Spaniards could only manage a draw against Northern Ireland.
The Greek defender celebrated with team-mates at a nightclub, but lost control of his vehicle after leaving the club and suffered a broken arm in the accident.
He will require surgery on the arm but was lucky to escape further injury as the car was completely burnt out.
The 29-year-old has been told he can leave St James' Park by manager Sir Bobby Robson and it appeared that he would be on his way out of the club, but this latest incident may hinder his chances of a move - at least in the short term.
Dabizas indicated that he wanted to stay at the club but the signing of former Leeds star Jonathan Woodgate has hindered his chances of regular first-team football.
