Branca dismisses Spanish Vieri links

Branca insisted the burly Italian international is a key member of the Inter attack and the club have never entertained the notion of selling their prize asset.

"There are rumours like this due to stories in the press," Branca told Inter's official website. "We haven't considered the hypothesis and we have never thought of this.

"I want to tell our supporters that Christian Vieri is a fundamental point of our attack."

Branca however, refused to say that all the names linked with Hector Cuper's side in the press, including Andy van der Mayde, were pure speculation.

"I think it would be stupid saying the press is completely wrong, because in European and World football, the players that we define with talent who are able to make a difference to us, aren't many.

"I think the press has been quite close but I would leave a 40 per cent margin of surprise."
