Achterberg pens new deal
TRANMERE ROVERS goalkeeper John Achterberg has signed a new contract with the club.
Achterberg, who has made nearly 200 appearances for the club since joining in 1998, has penned a new two-year deal.
"I'm delighted and I'm sure the fans are too that John Achterberg has re-signed for the club," said manager Ray Mathias.
"He was always our number one choice.
"The competition for John's signature was very strong with a couple of First Division clubs chasing him.
"We plan to make one or two further signings but we are in a fortunate position to have a strong and settled squad unlike many other clubs' at this time."
