Melville agrees Fulham stay

VETERAN defender Andy Melville has agreed a one-year contract extension to stay at Fulham.

The Welsh international's future had been the subject of speculation as he waited to discover if he would earn a fresh deal at Loftus Road.

Melville was a regular in the team last season under Jean Tigana and the Frenchman's successor, Chris Coleman, has kept faith in his former defensive team-mate.

The 34-year-old has spent four years at Fulham, and manager Coleman was delighted that Melville had reached an agreement to stay with the Premiership side.

"Melv is coming in next Tuesday to sign for another year which I'm delighted about," Coleman told the club's official website.

"Melv's a real unsung hero in the team and we miss him when he's not there.

"He's such a professional and his experience and positional sense is second to none and I'm really chuffed we've agreed terms to keep him here."
