Bremen swoop for Ismael

WERDER BREMEN are confident of signing Strasbourg defender Valerien Ismael after agreeing personal terms with the player on Monday.

Bremen's director of sport Klaus Allofs confirmed that he would like to take the 27-year-old former Crystal Palace player on loan for one season with an option of a permanent deal until 2006.

"We have agreed with both the player and his club that we will take him on loan before signing a permanent deal," Allofs said.

"All we have to do now is agree a transfer fee with Racing Strasbourg should we decide to take Ismael on a permanent basis in a year's time."
