Marriott snubs Bantams move

BRADFORD CITY have missed out on signing goalkeeper Alan Marriott from Division Three side Lincoln City, as he did not fancy the idea of being number two to Alan Combe.

The 24-year-old was an ever-present for The Red Imps last season, as manager Keith Alexander's side reached the Third Division play-off final last month.

The Sincil Bank custodian has opted to sign a new two-year deal at Lincoln, thus dashing Bantams manager Nicky Law's hopes of luring him to Valley Parade.

Marriott told Bradford City's official website that a move to the West Yorkshire outfit would not have suited his playing career.

"I didn't want to go somewhere else and sit on the bench or fester in somebody's reserves," said Marriott.

"I had contact with three clubs within the last month but none of them would have been a good move as far as my playing career is concerned."
