Cuper`s Scudetto goal
Inter have not lifted the Serie A title since 1989 and Cuper is determined to satisfy the supporters' lust for success.
After finishing second last term and qualifying for the Champions League, Cuper concedes it is imperative his side lifts some silverware next term.
"Everyone has told me this and I know, too, that this is the season in which Inter absolutely have to win something," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"There aren't any doubts over this.
"For supporters, the Scudetto is the priority and so this is mine, too. But I think we could battle to the end in both competitions.
"In my mind, there is still the winning mentality. I understand the supporters. They haven't won for a long time."
Cuper also feels it will be a bonus for his preparations that there has been no major international competition during the summer.
He added: "I can plan for the season with players who have not been engaged in the World Cup and especially not having Champions League preliminaries to play.
"So, we can all work together. These are the conditions from my first year at Inter, when everything went in a good way until the last day."
The Argentine tactician is also happy with the recruitment of French midfielder Sabri Lamouchi, who has arrived at Giuseppe Meazza from Parma in an exchange deal with Domenico Morfeo.
Cuper continued: "Lamouchi is an important player, a person in France who won a lot and like players who have a few titles, he could be helpful in creating a winning mentality in our group."
