Marseille move in on Mido
MARSEILLE are poised to bid for Ajax's Egyptian superstar Mido, with suggestions they are willing to pay around £7.5 million for the striker.
Mido, whose full name is Ahmed Hossam, has exhausted his welcome at Ajax despite his prolific ability in front of goal.
The 20-year-old prodigy has had several high-profile bust ups with his Dutch club, culminating in his being farmed out on loan to Spanish side Celta Vigo last year.
Although Celta are believed to have an option to buy the forward, Marseille's willingness to meet Ajax's asking price could put them in pole position.
Mido is set to fly into France for talks with the club, and is believed to be happy to play in Le Championnat next season.
However, it seems likely that Roma will up their bid for the youngster, as they continue to chase high profile signings - after their original move was rebuffed.
