Becks to be number 23
Beckham was introduced by Real president Florentino Perez, before being presented with his new Real shirt by club legend Alfredo di Stefano.
The England skipper then addressed the assembled media, and insisted he had realised a lifetime ambition by joining the Spanish giants.
Ç£I have always loved football. Of course I love my family I have a wonderful life but football is everything to me and joining Real is a dream come true," said Beckham.
"Thank-you to everyone for coming and joining me on my arrival. Gracias. Hala Madrid!" he concluded.
The number 23 shirt was occupied last season by Spanish international Pedro Munitis, but the forward left the club this summer, and it is believed Beckham has chosen the number in honour of one of his sporting heroes, Michael Jordan.
The former Manchester United idol had earlier revealed his eagerness to commence his Madrid career, declaring he was hungry to experience life on the pitch at Real.
"When I actually run out it is going to be an amazing experience, because the only time I have ran out onto a football pitch it has been with England or Manchester United.
"So running out with Real Madrid and these sort of players and this team in front of 90,000 fans is going to be an amazing experience."
