Barca seal Rustu signing

BARCELONA have completed the capture of Turkish international goalkeeper Rustu Recber on a Bosman transfer.

The 30-year-old was available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Fenerbahce.

Rustu was unveiled to the media after successfully coming through his medical at Camp Nou on Tuesday.

The highly-rated custodian was delighted to be joining Barca and hopes he can have great success at the club.

"I hope to be a great keeper here," said Rustu.

"Since I was seven years old I've been a fan of Barca. There have been just two teams in my life, Fener and Barca.

"I would like to thank my agent and the president for signing me.

"There have been some great Barca teams in the past and I want us to be a great Barca in the future."

Rustu is new president Joan Laporta's first signing since gaining control at Barca and he believes the goalkeeper will prove to be a major success.

"He (Rustu) understands our project. I've got the feeling he will be one of the leaders of the team," said Laporta.
