Owls offer Watson trial

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY boss Chris Turner has thrown Gordon Watson another football lifeline.

The striker was talked out of retirement by The Owls' boss when he was manager at then Third Division Hartlepool United.

The 32-year-old was released by Pool at the end of last term, after spending most of the season on the sidelines recovering from a second broken leg as the club sealed promotion to Division Two.

Turner though is giving a trial to the former Hillsborough favourite, and hopes the forward will do enough to make the move permanent.

"I took Gordon out of retirement to take him there (Hartlepool) and he repaid me well."
