Crewe rush in for Moses

The defender has penned a two-year contract with the First Division club after snubbing a fresh deal at The McAlpine Stadium.

The Terriers had offered the 28-year-old a 12-month extension to stay in the Third Division but Moses jumped at the chance of a return to a higher level.

Moses revealed he was contemplating sticking with The Terriers and also considered offers from a brace of Second Division sides.

But, following a telephone call from Crewe's assistant manager Neil Baker, the former Barnsley stopper admitted he had little hesitation in signing for The Railwaymen.

"Huddersfield made me a very decent offer and I had a couple of offers from clubs in Division Two but obviously as a professional you want to play as high as you can," Moses told Crewe's official website.

"I was tempted to stay at Huddersfield because I liked it there despite all the problems, but last week Neil Baker rang me at home and invited me to come to look around the training ground.

"We had a chat and he indicated that the club were very keen to sign me. We talked terms and things were very simple really. Once I looked around the training ground and everything I was very keen to come on board."

Crewe swooped for Moses after their initial target, Chris Willmott, opted to sign for Northampton Town.

Meanwhile, Crewe teenagers Mark Roberts and Matt Garner have signed their first professional contracts with the club, netting two-year and one-year deals respectively.
